Citizen 431 has a useful summary of a
recent decision from the Utah Supreme Court about a now repealed Utah anti-spam law. It also explains why a federal anti-spam law is more useful. For those interested in a nice legal review of the subject, surf on over.

The anti-spam law was a feel-good measure when it was passed. It seems like every legislative session, we pass at least one law that is intended to address a nationwide or global problem that we are upset about, but that we feel powerless to address. It feels good at the time, but the weaknesses of these laws eventually come back on us.
